Sample Requirements

Below is the step-by-step process for getting your samples into our pipeline for sequencing. Please review these steps carefully, and if you have any questions don’t hesitate to ask.

1.) Email nwgc@uw.edu with the following details regarding your project:

  • Number of samples
  • Sample preparation methods (i.e. extraction methods, quantification assays, etc.)
  • Sequencing preferences
  • Final data format expectations
  • Deadlines (if any)

2.) The NWGC will send you a quote based on your project specifications. Do not send any samples before reviewing the quote and returning the signed quote or purchase order to the NWGC.

3.) After the project specifications are finalized, the project manager will send you a copy of the manifest and sample submission instructions. The sample submission document provides detailed descriptions of:

  • Required content
  • Shipping instructions
  • Overall project workflow
  • QC process and DNA/RNA submission parameters

4.) Fill out the manifest with all the required information and send it to the project manager. After it is processed in our system, we will send the corresponding barcoded plasticware for the samples to be plated. Samples must be plated exactly how they are laid out on the manifest. For best results, submit samples of high quality.

5.)Send the plates back (pay attention to the shipping instructions) and they will enter our pipeline. We will contact you as soon as the QC results are complete and determine how to proceed.
