    • Presentation 1: Introduction to the Mapping Initiative: what is done and what to expect in the near future by Luke Rogers.
    • Presentation 2: Overview of the Natural Climate Solutions (NCS) role of Washington’s Forestry Sector, using a mapping framework. by Prof Indroneil Ganguly.

  • Breakout – Participants break out into pre-assigned groups based on registration feedback. Following are the discussion topics by groups.
    • Group Kent
      • Low-value biomass utilization issues,
      • General sawmilling capacity-related issues
    • Group Hema
      • Landownership-based forest management practices
      • Forestry and forest industry support infrastructure
    • Group Alec
      • Value-added wood products manufacturing in the State
      • Hardwood-related issues (sawmilling capacity, seedling availability, commercial plantations, etc.)
    • Group Lieke
      • Poorly managed timberlands (Federal/State/Private) and related enviro-socio-economic implications
      • Low-value biomass utilization issues
    • Group Chris
      • Social licensing issues (disconnect between forest managers and the greater WA population)
      • Forestry workforce development

Short Break

Each group would identify two group leaders, and the leader will present the group’s discussion notes. Discussions will follow group presentation on the 9 topics
